Tri An hydropower plant faces worst water shortage

Tri An hydropower plant in Dong Nai province is facing the worst water shortage in 25 years.

The water level at the plant’s reservoir is just 4m higher than the critical level, Deputy Director of the plant Vo Tan Nhan said.

The plant has been running perfunctorily to reserve its meagre supplies.

It only generates nearly 1 million kW per day, equal to one-third of the power generated during the same period last year.

The plant’s reservoirs are usually full of water at this time of the year. However, the plant faced severe water shortage from the 2010 rainy season until now. - Source: monre.gov.vn
